[Not a wish-fulfillment story + slow burn + stand-in + groveling pursuit + everyday family life
Beautiful, flirtatious doctor × restrained, seemingly gentle but secretly ruthless math teacher]
In the 1970s, Shen Jinglan was one of the few only daughters in Jiangzhou. She came from a good family, had a good job, and was beautiful, yet at twenty-three she still had no boyfriend.
The reason was that she had someone hidden in her heart.
Then she met Zhou Yan, the youngest math teaching assistant at Jiangzhou University. He was cold and taciturn, and his face bore some resemblance to someone from her past.
She took the initiative and asked, “Would you like to date me?”
He said, “My family background is bad, and I don't even have a home.”
She said, “I don't mind. We'll have a home after we get married.”
And so they entered marriage, each with their own agenda.
But that era offered no room for peace.
Anonymous letters, hospital disputes, suspension from work, and the return of someone from the past. After his parents were exonerated, conflicts with her mother-in-law continued, and Gu Haisheng, whom she had once secretly loved, was transferred back to Jiangzhou.
Misunderstandings grew, and the cracks deepened.
Zhou Yan decided to go abroad, and Shen Jinglan readily signed the divorce papers.
He thought she was doing it for Gu Haisheng, and left without looking back;
She clutched her pregnancy test results and said nothing.
Years later, Zhou Yan returned to China as a professor.
Shen Jinglan was studying for her graduate degree at the same university.
They met again.
“Professor Zhou, it's been a long time.”
He crouched in front of a little boy who looked exactly like him, his eyes reddening. “Shen Jinglan, I was wrong.”
“What were you wrong about?”
She thought he was a stand-in, and he thought she was a stepping stone;
Each thought the other had given up first.
Only years later did they learn that, from beginning to end, they had only ever had each other.
I finally found a good book, but it was discontinued🤦🤦
Beautifully written and detailed! I'm looking forward to Chasing Wife Crematorium!
It's good to watch, and I look forward to the follow-up relationship between the male and female protagonists!
Very nice, recommended! Marriage first, love later, now the male protagonist is obviously in love
Very nice chronicle
Looks great, highly recommended! Did they both think that the other person had someone else in mind and separated? 😢
Finally found a good period article!!
Very nice, please update more
It's good-looking, the plot is more realistic than ordinary period novels, and daily life is also described in more detail.
The author is very good at describing details. The protagonists get along with each other very naturally, and the relationship comes naturally. It is a warm and daily story for the times. There are some setbacks, but I believe they will get over it and get better.
