The stupidest thing Li Beixian ever did was volunteer to splash his best friend Lu Wensheng’s scumbag ex with coffee on a Friday afternoon.
Then he splashed the wrong guy.
The victim was Gu Guizhi, the youngest partner at Jincheng Law Firm, known around town as “Judge Gu.” After getting drenched in iced Americano, he calmly took out his phone, scanned Li Beixian’s QR code, and added him on WeChat. His note read: Accomplice who splashed coffee on me.
Things got even more ridiculous when Lu Wensheng rushed out with a tray of hot Americanos to make amends, slipped, and sent all six cups flying, splashing everyone in sight. The person laughing the loudest was none other than He Muyan, an intern working under Gu Guizhi.
From then on, coffee bound all four of their fates together.
Gu Guizhi renamed their group chat “Coffee Victims Alliance” and locked the group notice so nobody could change it. He Muyan turned an ugly photo of Lu Wensheng with a coffee cup on his head into a sticker and spammed it in the chat. As Lu Wensheng chased his junior around, he discovered that the kid remembered every dish he liked at hot pot restaurants. Meanwhile, after receiving cat photos and scarf deliveries from Gu Guizhi, along with a bill for 380 yuan in dry-cleaning fees, Li Beixian despairingly realized...
He might have fallen for someone over a cup of coffee.
As a debut novel, this book has many problems. There are obvious shortcomings in the content structure and language writing, and many details are not handled well enough. It is inevitable that my first creation will be awkward, and I accept all criticisms calmly. This experience allowed me to see clearly my own gaps. In the future, I will accumulate experience, make up for my shortcomings, and strive to move forward steadily on the road of creation.
