Before the dawn of the primordial world, he condensed the One True Qi, his status surpassing even the Three Pure Ones. The Dao Lord Tianyao slept through countless aeons, only to awaken one day and foresee the calamity of the Age Without the Dao!
The spiritual qi of the Three Realms has run dry, gods and Buddhas have vanished, and not a trace of his own lineage remains. In the human world, greed and corruption run rampant, and living beings suffer. To halt the Age Without the Dao and restore balance to the Three Realms, the Dao Lord enters the Journey to the West twelve hundred years early, laying down an ironclad rule: he will not alter Heaven's ordained fate or steal the scripture-seeking party's moments in the spotlight. He will only resolve the regrets left by the original story and protect the innocent.
The Three Pure Ones bow respectfully before him, the Jade Emperor honors him as the Great Celestial Venerable, and the Buddhas of Spirit Mountain address him with reverence as the World-Honored One of Maitreya. The Buddhist and Daoist schools alike bow before him. Using the wondrous art of Tianyao, he purges evil, gives lost monsters a chance to repent, right the wrongs of untimely deaths, and bring balance to the Buddhist and Daoist factions.
Only when the Eighty-One Tribulations are over do the Three Realms realize that this entire grand westward journey was decided by the Dao Lord from beginning to end!
