Kafusi went up Yunhui Mountain when he was twelve.
He arrived in the best of times: the temple was thriving, the land was peaceful, and his master was known as a famously kind old man.
Just how kind was he?
Kind enough to raise his own disciple to the brink of chewing tree bark, even though there were vegetables at every meal for the rest of the mountain.
Later, his master passed away, and he became Yixuan's senior disciple.
That was the end of Yunhui Mountain's good days.
One day, he stole money from the merit box to buy barbecue pork buns. The next, he drew a mustache on the Patriarch's portrait. The day after that, he chased Auntie Wang's chickens all over the mountain with Ju Fufu.
Complaints from the foot of the mountain piled up higher than he did, stretching all the way from Weifeidi to the mountain gate.
Yixuan put up with it for eleven years.
At last, he couldn't take it anymore. Just then, a partnership with City Hall came up, so he waved a hand and declared:
“Go on a business trip to Xindu. Expenses reimbursed.”
And so, the whole of Yunhui Mountain rejoiced, beating gongs and drums as they packed up this little menace and sent him off on an airship.
