1921: Starting with the Axe Gang

In 1921 Shanghai, the Axe Gang had only just been founded. Shen Jian had just joined Wang Yazhao, the foremost assassin of the Republican era, in taking part in the gang's first wage-collection operation. From then on, Shanghai's unscrupulous capitalists, gangsters, foreigners, and Japanese invaders would all lose sleep.

Starting with growing the gang, founding companies, and building an armed force, Shen Jian wiped out gangs and drove out foreigners and Japanese invaders. He rose from a low-ranking gang member to become a Shanghai tycoon renowned throughout China and a global financial titan.
