Father, Wait! Keep Pushing Me and I'll Rule the Court

Chemistry professor Shen Du wakes up to find himself transmigrated into a novel as a spoiled, villainous wastrel.

He spends his days eating, drinking, and making merry, squanders his family’s fortune, and even goes out of his way to provoke the protagonist, until his whole family is destroyed.

Just as Shen Du is racking his brains over how to defy fate, he discovers that his father, who had only just retired, has transmigrated too. His father has become Lord Shen, the doting, addle-brained patriarch in the book.

His father slaps the table. “Study! Study like mad! The two of us will take the civil service exams together!”

Shen Du’s mouth twitches. “Dad, I studied chemistry. I don’t know the first thing about this.”

His father laughs coldly. “You may not be able to do it, but your old man can. I’ll drag you along with me.”

From the county-level exams all the way to the palace examination, father and son study their way up, using the old cadre’s top-tier strategic maneuvering to leave the cunning old foxes at court questioning their sanity.

They make money as they rise through the ranks, study until their rivals break down, study until they catch the emperor’s eye, and study their way to the highest positions and boundless wealth.

Shen Du: “Dad, hold on! If we keep cramming, this is going to get out of hand!”
