Three years after the disaster, engineer Su Chen was surviving in an abandoned warehouse. While searching for supplies, he came across Xiaoyu, a girl who had been separated from her parents, and brought her back into a coma due to high fever. Su Chen took the risk to find antipyretic medicine and rescued Xiaoyu's mother Zhou Ping. The three formed a makeshift family and settled down in the warehouse. They cultivated vegetable plots, learned to read, and shared what little food and knowledge they had. Zhou Ping brings vegetable seeds and persistence in life, and Xiao Yu brings the desire to learn. When they discovered that there were other survivors nearby, they carefully evaluated the possibility of contact and cooperation.
