Spring Is Gone

Be warning Sixteen-year-old Ye Yumian was lying on the hospital bed, listening to the cicadas chirping outside the window year after year. The story begins from the last spring when she was hospitalized, and slowly unfolds a girl's short but warm life in flashback. From the shared strawberry jam biscuits in the kindergarten, to the sour green grapes on the rooftop of the elementary school; from the boy shouting "see you in junior high school" through the iron gate, to the agreement between the three of them stepping on the shadows on the way to school - those tiny, shining daily moments pieced together the most precious memories in Ye Yumian's heart. But fate never shows mercy to anyone who is young. The sudden death of his best friend Lin Qianxin was like a knife cutting through the hypocrisy of the word "forever"; and Ye Yumian's own body was like a lamp in the wind, flickering brightly and dimly. She secretly visited the young man named Chen Zheng and wrote "Long time no see" on a piece of paper but didn't know how to continue. She and Shen Yu agreed to go to the rooftop in the summer to complete the unsent letter - but when summer came, she didn't wait. At the end of the story, Chen Zheng heard her name at a class reunion. He returned to the old street and climbed up to the rooftop that had been locked for a long time. The vines were withered, the iron door was rusty, and the little girl who was always waiting for him at the door was no longer there.
