Starting from the spring famine in the Jizhong Plain in the north in 1960, it focuses on the desperate survival of the four first-generation brothers and sisters of the Li family. It tells a complete story of how the eldest brother Li Deshan and the eldest sister-in-law Wang Guiying led their brothers and sisters through the famine and turbulent years, taking root and establishing a family, until the spring breeze of reform and opening up in 1979, when the second generation of the Li family's children were born one after another, ushering in a turn in life.
