No romance, just raising kids, no romantic tension. Xia Mo was once a top-tier star, right in the middle of a career upswing, then she disappeared for three years. No one knew where she had gone. When she returned, she was already a has-been. The show Dream Babies wanted to find an unlikely counterpart for award-winning actress Shen Qing, so they invited Xia Mo. It was also Xia Mo’s first major variety show since her return. The director hoped the two women would spark an entertaining contrast. But Xia Mo got along well with amateur guest Xia Wanwan, and her hilarious interactions with the two kids, along with her way of bonding with them, breathed new life into her stagnant career.
A quick note for everyone: Xia Mo will have a reunion-with-her-family plotline later in the story. It’s honestly pretty cliché, and I’m embarrassed to admit it. When you get to that part, please go easy on me in the comments.
