This is a documentary-style novel about the real lives of China’s retail investors. In March 2008, Liu Xing put all his savings, 12,000 yuan, into the stock market. The Shanghai Composite Index stood at 5,265, and everyone said the “golden decade” had just begun.
The first stock he bought was Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. A friend told him, “It’s backed by the state. It won’t go under.” He bought it for 5.38 yuan a share.
Over the next eighteen years, he lived through every major event in China’s A-share market:
The collapse from 6,124 points, the frenzy of the four-trillion-yuan stimulus, the madness of the leveraged bull market, the absurdity of the circuit breakers, the slow decline during the trade war, and thousands of stocks hitting their daily limit down during the pandemic...
He had no insider information and knew nothing about technical analysis. He got just one thing right: he held on.
As one by one the friends around him vanished after chasing rallies and selling in panics, and the brokerage office went from packed to empty, he was like a clumsy farmer tending a tree as it slowly grew.
Eighteen years later, his original 12,000 yuan had become 170,000. His annualized return was about 14%.
Not much, but he had survived.
This is a story about patience, respect, and surviving.
There is no overnight fortune, only eighteen years of real stock charts, and a reflection of every retail investor.
The content looks real and not exaggerated at all
A book suitable for novices
Thanks to Lao Liu and the author.
It would have been nice to have read your book 10 years ago, and I wouldn't have ended up in this situation now.
Based on 18 years of retail investors' experience in stock trading, it explains the underlying logic of the stock market, teaches people to hold on to high-quality targets, and avoid the trap of chasing the rise and killing the fall. It is a down-to-earth survival guide for retail investors!!!
Learn to survive in the stock market first and then think about making money
Worth learning, worth learning, worth learning, five-star praise
As a new retail investor, the mentality and thoughts described in the book are the same as mine now, so I decided to read this book!
It's very real and real. Holding a good stock is the long-term solution for ordinary investors. If you don't want to spend a dollar, investing is a lifetime thing 👍👍
Not bad, worth reading. There are some things worth learning in it.
