Awakening Through Madness

After Lin Shen is hit and killed by a truck, he is "reborn" in 2058, living the perfect power fantasy: he can predict the stock market, beautiful women surround him, and his enemies become idiots. But his brain begins to reject the experience. Passersby repeat the exact same words they said yesterday, every syllable unchanged. From a certain angle, his psychiatrist's eyes look like paper. And the "other people reborn" with the same golden finger smile at him and say, "Welcome to the Protagonist Club," before crumbling and drifting away like burned offerings.

He is sent to a psychiatric hospital. During his stay, a woman in military uniform kicks open his ward door and tells him the truth: he was never reborn. He was captured by the Void Abyss. The universe is full of "protagonists" like him, endless funeral dreams, and countless dead people who believe they are one of a kind. But his brain has something they lack: it refuses to accept standardized sensory implants. His madness is not an illness. It is the only BUG in the Void Abyss System.

From that day on, he changes from a pampered power-fantasy protagonist into a lucid cancer cell tearing the entire Void Abyss apart.
