Chen An, a high school senior, somehow acquired a “Monster Radar” in his mind, along with a wealth of knowledge about the legendary game. Right after the college entrance exams, his parents told him that his grandfather wasn’t an ordinary old man. Thirty years ago, he had vanished inside the game world of Guixu, leaving Chen An a key, a map, and a notebook.
Well, so much for his summer plans. Chen An grabbed his best friend, and the two of them transmigrated straight from a Beijing hutong to the city of Bicheng in the world of Legend. Here, might makes right, monsters roam everywhere, and killing and looting are commonplace. While everyone else fights monsters by brute force, he relies on the Radar and the knowledge in his head, hunting elites and bosses in particular. He becomes a “Zombie King Hunter” in the zombie caves, sells information, quietly makes a fortune, and watches his skills and gear improve by leaps and bounds.
The city is full of hidden dangers, too. There are enemies out to steal his gear, the tyrannical Eagle Gang, the mysterious Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets, and the icy female mage Su Wanqing, whom he meets by chance. Not one of them is simple. With luck and cunning that seem almost like cheating, Chen An blazes his way forward, becoming a little tycoon and uncovering a crucial clue about where his grandfather disappeared.
But just as he returns to the real world with his treasure, a phone call comes in. The caller claims to be from the “Chinese Academy of Sciences,” and the emblem they show him is exactly the same as the mysterious symbol for Guixu in his grandfather’s notebook…
The Daoist descends the mountain, and the legend begins. Chen An’s adventure hits the accelerator in both worlds at once.
