I'm a restorer of ancient books, and I can see the filthy things inside them.
A murder takes place at the National Library in the dead of night. Before my colleague dies, they stare at the security camera and scream.
I pull up the footage and see a woman from the Republican era standing behind me. She's wearing a wedding dress and has no face.
Three days later, I receive a red invitation.
"The Zhao Family's Ghost Wedding cordially invites Chen Mo to be the bride. No declining, no substitute, no regrets."
I open the ancient book, Records of a Hundred Ghosts. On the title page, it says:
"Whoever restores this book must not leave out a single page. Omit one page, and one life must be offered in its place."
On the first page, I lose my shadow.
On the second page, my left hand stops working properly.
On the third page, another me appears in the mirror.
The fourth page, the fifth, the sixth...
It turns out I'm the hundredth sacrifice.
And the one who has waited a hundred years for me has been inside my eyes all along.
