The Qingqiu clan was once a divine race. Thousands of years ago, Jiuying led the Four Great Fiends in wreaking havoc upon the mortal world. Yinglong and the gods fought hard to put an end to the chaos. Though the fiends' bodies were destroyed, their vicious nature became seeds that scattered across the mortal realm. Under their influence, spirits who cultivated into demons abandoned proper cultivation and began pursuing a new path to immortality: killing humans and consuming their vital essence. This method greatly increased a demon's power. Even those unable to become immortals could extend their lives and preserve their youthful appearance.
To address the consequences, Yinglong established an organization called the Demon Suppression Bureau to protect the mortal world. Yinglong ultimately perished from the wounds he sustained in the great battle. The Bureau made capturing demons its duty and took responsibility for protecting all under Heaven. It was divided into three halls and six departments.
The Qingqiu clan was once a divine race, but during the great battle, they feared the conflict might bring disaster upon them and did not help the gods. After the battle, the gods blamed them and stripped them of their divine status. They settled in a region of the mortal world.
The first clan leader of Qingqiu believed the clan's fate was his fault. He sacrificed his life to secure a glimmer of hope that his people might regain their divine status. The Moon Goddess sent down a Prophecy Stone, saying that once it gave a sign, the clan would have a chance to reclaim their place among the gods. Not long afterward, the Moon Goddess inexplicably vanished. It seemed the divine realm had forgotten both the Prophecy Stone and the Qingqiu clan. For centuries, no divine omen appeared. Still clinging to that sliver of hope, the Qingqiu clan waited anxiously.
