Echoes Beyond the School Rules

During an inspection, Su Ye got into a confrontation with someone from outside the school. Jiang Yan punished her by making her copy the school rules, but later that night, he helped her treat her wounds. At the school arts festival, someone maliciously damaged Su Ye’s oil painting. Jiang Yan helped her piece together the evidence, and the two of them spent the night repainting it in the studio, using the ruler as a weight to hold down the paper. When Su Ye’s father suddenly showed up and insisted she transfer schools, Jiang Yan broke the rules for the first time and took her to hide in the camphor grove. On the ground strewn with fallen leaves, they shared their secrets with each other. Discipline was no longer a one-sided form of restraint; it became a unique way of saying, “I understand your rough edges, and I want to keep you safe.” Across three hundred thousand words, the story unfolds the small, tender moments of campus life, the growing pains and transformation of youth, and every step two girls take as they slowly draw closer amid rules and heartfelt affection.
