He Broke His Promise All Summer

He didn’t know that every time my heart skipped a beat, I came one step closer to death.

I’m Jiang You, a painfully insecure girl who has to be careful even when she breathes.

He’s Cen Yu, the only little ray of sunshine in my bleak youth.

I like him, but it’s more than that. I love him.

But love shouldn’t be a shackle. If my love might hurt him, then I’d rather give up this so-called love.

I disappeared that summer, carrying an unspoken “goodbye.”

To the boy I loved most.

You may not know it, but you saved me countless times.

The wind died down in midsummer, and he broke his promise in the bloom of youth.
