After the Grand Princess Went to the Desert, the General Knelt Until the Buddhist Hall Crumbled Too

In my previous life, I died pierced by countless arrows before the eyes of my beloved, Xiao Jinci. All I heard was his icy imperial decree ordering my death. The devotion with which I had chased after him like a moth to a flame across two lifetimes ended as a cruel joke, with me losing everything.

Reborn before the Buddha, I vowed beneath the ancient lamp that we would never meet again in any lifetime. Yet I could not escape the torment of fate. For the sake of his white-moonlight, he personally drew the blood from my heart, watched our unborn child die, asked the emperor to strip me of my title in the Golden Throne Hall, then cast me into a cold palace from which there was no return. With my heart dead, I fled to the northern deserts. From the deposed crown princess of Dajing, I rose step by step to become regent of the Northern Desert, taking command of its military and government. I stood peerless, with Xie Yunlan at my side, ready to protect me with his life as he had for ten years. When the truth finally came to light, the once-arrogant emperor went mad trying to win me back. He knelt before the Buddha until both knees were broken, risked his life to protect me on the battlefield, and even offered his life to cure the deadly poison that was certain to kill me. But love that comes too late is worth less than grass. Snow fell over Chang'an in both lifetimes. In the end, he lay forever in the snowy mountains, while I guarded the ashes of our love across two lives, and the vow came true: never to meet again in any lifetime.
