How Am I, a Humble Human, Actually an Elf?

Inspired by the metaphorical saying online that “the Chinese are an elven race.”

Republican-era style + humanity + alternate history + another world + magic + psychic powers + elves (?)

In his previous life, Alex was a transmigrator who got hit by a truck. Reborn, he is now a key member of the army fighting the demons.

More than two years of battle earn him nothing but a thorough beating at the hands of the Demon Queen. As she leaves, she even remarks, “What a shame. Such a promising young man.”

Just as he is about to pay tribute to the legendary Knight King Tianhui, two beams of light whisk him away.

When he wakes, he finds two people before him, gentle and refined yet hiding a sharp edge. Are they the legendary, mysterious “elves”?

“Me? A poor wretch who can barely guarantee his own survival… and I’m actually descended from these so-called ‘elves’?”

He also has a new name: Liu Xuan.

Even more bewildering, this “elven sanctuary” is called the Yinglong Kingdom, and it looks nothing like the legends.

There are no tree houses or magical springs. Instead, there are orderly cities and the vibrant bustle of everyday life, like a home assembled from fragments of memories of his past life, familiar yet strange.

Five years later, having completed his studies, he returns to the human continent and enrolls in an advanced magic academy.

Then he discovers that human society has become even more outrageous than before. The compensation for low-ranking soldiers is embezzled by nobles until it is worth less than a dog. Commoners who cannot pay their taxes are driven outside the city walls to fend for themselves. Some even hold protest signs outside the academy, only to be branded “demon spies” and dragged away the next day.

These things leave him silent…
