[Post-apocalypse + fun + ensemble cast + playing it safe + uncomplicated thrills]
Six months after the apocalypse, Sheng Xia pedals her dead-electric “scooter” and sings off-key as she scavenges through the ruins. Then one day, a professional team kicks down her door. “Hello, Ark Express. We’re here to collect a ‘hazardous package.’”
She looks down at the fingertips crackling with electricity. “…Me?”
The next moment, a thunderstorm fries the whole area, turning her safehouse into an open-air barbecue pit.
From then on, she has a few rather unusual teammates:
Team leader Shen Yanci, a former officer who is ruthless and taciturn. His daily routine consists of cleaning his blade, calculating the supplies, and wondering what to eat for dinner.
His catchphrase: “Don’t die.”
Medic Su Wan, gentle and healing, and also an apocalyptic master chef. Her motto: “In the apocalypse, a good cook is rarer than ten soldiers.”
Scout Lin Xi, a human radar who can accurately report the condition of a zombie’s teeth three hundred meters away, as well as the exact spot fifty meters away where a cockroach is about to crawl across Zhao Lei’s face.
Assault specialist Zhao Lei, an earth-element Awakener whose signature weapon is a toilet brush fitted with steel spikes. He calls himself “the strongest cleaner alive.”
Their team is called “Still Alive Today,” a very straightforward name.
Their daily routine involves growing vegetables in the ruins, gambling with a deck of playing cards missing some of its cards, charging flashlights, and wondering why the team leader is always cleaning his blade.
Their goal is to survive, eat well, and, while they’re at it, zap all the crazies who chase Sheng Xia around shouting “Key” until they’re roasted.
