Snowy Ridge, Dragon's Spine

Review of the work "Snow Ridge and Dragon's Back" This is a mountain-guarding narrative set in the northeastern forest area. It takes the forest ranger Ling Feng's twenty-five years of persistence as the main line, and fully expresses the weight of the word "guarding". The author does not rely on a grand plot, but uses extremely restrained brushstrokes to blend the characters into the wind, snow, trees and day-to-day mountain patrols - Ling Feng's silence, Chen Kun's mutilated hand, Xiaohu's trembling when taking the black stone, Lin Xiaohe's bowl of cold and hot dumplings, every detail is like a knife carved on the frozen soil, which penetrates the back of the paper. The most moving part of the work lies in its simple expression of "inheritance". Ling Feng took the stone from his father and passed it on to Xiaohu; Batulu's hunting knife, Han Song's pocket watch, and Chen Kun's candy stick mold, these objects circulated among the characters, completing the continuation of the spiritual context. The closing sentence, "Mountains never grow old, people will grow old, but people will always be in the mountains." There is no preaching, but the feelings of family and country are brought to the most practical level - what is guarded is not fame and fortune, but the soil and water of a place and the souls of old friends. The language is as clean as the ridge behind the snow, and the emotions are restrained but long-lasting. This is a work worth reading slowly. Its power lies not in the fierce conflicts, but in those silent, day-to-day "presences" that remain unchanged despite the storm. Overall rating: ★★★★☆
