On Our Wedding Night, My Fierce Wife Forced Me at Knifepoint to Stay Up All Night

After transmigrating to the Hongwu era of the Great Ming, Su Chen wants nothing more than to open a little tavern in Yingtian Prefecture and live the lazy life of a man who eats his fill and waits to die.

Two regulars often come to drink there: one calls himself “Old Zhu” and spends every day complaining about how hard business is and how his underlings embezzle; the other, “Old Fourth,” is an unlucky junior who gets beaten up all the time.

Tired of hearing them complain, Su Chen casually offers some advice: “Your underlings are embezzling? Try skinning them alive and stuffing their hides with grass!” “Your northern rival is too strong? Ever heard that everything within cannon range is the truth?”

Who would have guessed that the very next day, the Ming court would be swept up in a storm of bloodshed?

To bind this extraordinary talent to him for good, Old Zhu even offers up the “ferocious tigress” in his family who can’t find a husband as collateral, making her Su Chen’s wife.

On their wedding night, his stunning wife walks in with a knife and a bowl of nourishing tonic, sneering, “Husband, time for your medicine! If you don’t draw up the flintlock blueprints after drinking this, you can forget about sleeping tonight!”

Su Chen is stunned. Other people transmigrate and get pampered by beautiful wives and concubines, but he transmigrates only to have a deranged wife force him to work himself to the bone at knifepoint?!

Then one day, Su Chen is forced to go to the palace and give a report.

In the Hall of Golden Chimes, his drinking buddy Old Zhu smiles in his dragon robes. “Dear son-in-law, are you satisfied with my Great Ming realm?”

Su Chen stares in shock. “Old Zhu, you call this a small business?!”
