I’m Poor, So I Cultivate Evil

[I’m poor, so I cultivate demonic arts] Other cultivators absorb the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. I devour the baleful energy of mass graves.

I’m so poor I can’t even afford the lowest-grade Qi-Attracting Pill. All I can do is watch helplessly as the enemy who wiped out my family is worshipped by thousands atop the immortal sect’s peak.

If the righteous path was never meant to open its doors to ants like me, then I’ll burn myself as kindling and set the filthiest karmic fire in this world ablaze!

Climbing out of a mass grave with an ancient evil scripture in hand, I take on the dirty jobs that even the prestigious orthodox sects won’t touch: plundering thousand-year-old tombs, refining forbidden demon pills, hunting the sects’ chosen prodigies…

“Fellow Daoist, with demonic arts like yours, aren’t you afraid of Heaven’s punishment?”

When I crush my enemy’s Golden Core and face the Nine Heavens Immortal Venerable’s question, I simply smile and ask in return:

“Heaven’s punishment? When my whole family was dead and I was surviving on wild greens, did the ‘Heaven’ you speak of ever spare me a glance?”

This is a road to ascension paved with tainted blood and betrayal.

I don’t just want revenge. I want to tear away the hypocritical facade of the cultivation world and ask the aloof Nine Heavens:

“Why are they born above the clouds?”
