2098: The Reconstruction of Time and Space, A New Era

In 2098, the rain has never stopped.

People store their memories in the cloud, replace their bodies with cybernetics, and forget the gods entirely, until Gu Yan, a “memory pipe fitter,” receives a message from a dead man.

On the ninety-seventh day after his former partner Lu Ci'an fell to his death, his virtual persona leaves a message: “The mythology is running. Find the other seven. Before It wakes up.”

Meanwhile, mythology scholar Su Tan discovers a line of code that should not exist. It appears on oracle bones from the Classic of Mountains and Seas, on Sumerian clay tablets, and on Mayan stone carvings. For three thousand years, every civilization has used its own script to record the same warning.

Eight strangers. Eight “keys.” A secret war spanning the history of human civilization.

And by the time Gu Yan finally understands what was implanted in his left arm, Its eyes have already opened.

Memories can be erased. Myths cannot.
