Taking Xu Da's Northern Expedition and Zhu Yuanzhang's ascension to the throne as the background, it fictionalizes the perspective of Shen Linyuan, a young member of the Jinyiwei family. He was originally an orphan from Huaixi and was adopted by Zhu Yuanzhang. His mission was to secretly monitor the founding heroes. It focuses on describing the heroism and roughness of generals such as Xu Da and Chang Yuchun, as well as Zhu Yuanzhang's complex psychology of both relying on and being suspicious of his heroes.
