The Mortal Path of Slaughter

In the world of cultivation, spiritual roots determine your place in the hierarchy. Without one, you don't even qualify to begin cultivating. All you can do is menial labor or slave away in the mines, at the mercy of others.

Su Chen is one such "good-for-nothing."

Then he accidentally kills someone and uncovers a shocking secret: the "Dao Seeds" inside cultivators are chains planted by the Heavenly Dao. Cultivation is just "fertilizing" the Heavenly Dao, and ascension means being locked away in a higher-level prison.

Yet he can seize Dao resonance and sever the Heavenly Dao's threads.

Having no spiritual root has made him the one person the Heavenly Dao cannot bind.

From the servant quarters to the dungeon, from the mines to the spirit realm, Su Chen is a mere mortal who shatters the myth of spiritual roots and breaks the chains of the Heavenly Dao.

Others cultivate spiritual roots; he cultivates the art of slaughter.

Others seek ascension; he slays the Heavenly Dao.

"I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees."
