I Am the Imperial Tutor of the Immortal Qin

Chen Shu, a graduate student in history and a die-hard fan of Qin Shi Huang, is struck by lightning while pulling an all-nighter to write a paper about Zheng Ge, and lands in a snowstorm in Handan in 257 BC.

He arrives in the late Warring States period with a System, and an infant Ying Zheng, just three years old, to care for. The boy is so thin that every rib shows, and people kick him like a dog in the streets of Handan.

Chen Shu brings everything he has learned to bear on this era: teaching science, forging iron swords, building blast furnaces, and improving Qin crossbows, dragging Qin from the Bronze Age into the Iron Age by sheer force. Before his eyes, Ying Zheng grows from a hostage in Handan into the King of Qin in Xianyang, from a three-year-old into a twenty-two-year-old ruler taking power.

Bai Qi is sentenced to death at Duyou Pavilion? Bring him back. Li Mu is unjustly killed by the King of Zhao? Save him. Han Fei is murdered after arriving in Qin? Intercept him before it happens. The infamy of burning books and burying scholars for two thousand years? Do it differently: store all the books in the System and put the Confucian scholars to work on Mount Li.

Ying Zheng knows nothing about the System Chen Shu carries. He knows only one thing:

The man who lifted him from the snow in Handan has never left his side in nineteen years.

On the eve of his coming-of-age ceremony, Ying Zheng asks him, “Chen Shu, where did you really come from?”

After a long silence, Chen Shu says, “Two thousand years in the future.”

Ying Zheng is silent for a long time. Then he asks a question Chen Shu never expected:

“Why did you choose me?”

Chen Shu says, “Because you are the Ancestral Dragon. You are my idol, my faith.”

Ying Zheng falls silent again. Then he says something Chen Shu will never forget:

“Then for you, I will become a true god.”

From a shack in Handan to the heights of the Xianyang Palace, from hostage to Ancestral Dragon. From the age of three to eternity.

The Qin Empire did not fall. It simply journeyed farther than history ever did.
