Have you ever ridden an elevator that stops by itself on the thirteenth floor?
I have.
Three days later, my coworker died.
I didn’t die, though.
Because a System chose me.
The System told me to spend money.
To spend it nonstop.
The more I spent, the longer I stayed alive.
So I started spending.
I spent until I could see ghosts, until I could fight ghosts, until I could eat them.
Everyone thinks I’m cool.
But they don’t know this:
Every time I swipe my card, my hand is shaking.
Not because I’m afraid of the Rule Horrors.
Because I’m broke.
