A lifelong civil-service post at the Special Affairs Bureau for a half-demon × a thousand-year-old ghost and Daoist doctor: a supernatural romance in the entertainment industry!
Shen Yunxi is a top-tier star, dazzling beneath the spotlights onstage. Offstage, she's a Daoist practitioner on the Special Affairs Bureau's permanent payroll, taking on all sorts of supernatural assignments by pretending to be someone's lover.
During an unusual mission, she pulls a thousand-year-old ghost out of her own client. The old ghost turns out to be the ancestor of a family of Daoist doctors. Having spent far too long possessing his descendant, Zhou Chengyuan, he's fascinated by modern society. He latches onto Shen Yunxi and insists they keep pretending to be a couple.
The entertainment industry is rife with turmoil. The two go from bickering rivals to a perfectly matched team, banishing demons and monsters side by side.
What began as an act for a mission gradually changes amid a life woven from everyday warmth and the uncanny. Their pretend romance grows into real love, and the half-demon and the old ghostly Daoist doctor become each other's strongest bond.
