Unifying the Realm During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms

The protagonist, Qian Xuan, is a modern-day PhD in history and an expert in urban planning. During an academic expedition, he unexpectedly transmigrates into the past and becomes Qian Xuan, grandson of Qian Liu, ruler of the Kingdom of Wuyue, and son of Qian Yuanguan. It is the year 919. Wuyue has just decisively defeated the Wu army at the Battle of Langshan River, establishing its foundations, but it faces both internal turmoil and external threats.

Historically, the Qian family's Kingdom of Wuyue was destined to “secure its borders, protect its people, and serve the Central Plains,” eventually surrendering its territory to the Song Dynasty. But Qian Xuan, a transmigrator armed with modern historical knowledge, knows that if the southern kingdoms can unite first, they may well stand against the north. He must gradually shift from “preserving what has been built” to “pursuing expansion,” while maintaining Wuyue's economic prosperity, and accomplish the great work of unification. He will bring an early end to China's chaos and to that nightmare in Chinese history that even historians would rather not mention. This is an alternate history that overlaps with real history in some places, while diverging considerably in its chronology and the paths taken by its figures.
