Full Synopsis
Shen Yan was once the peerless genius of the Qingxuan Sect. At thirteen, he had already reached the peak of the Golden Core Realm. But after accidentally becoming the master of the ancient Primordial Heaven-Refining Furnace, it drained all his spiritual energy, and his cultivation plummeted. He went from an acclaimed true disciple to a good-for-nothing menial disciple anyone could bully. After three years of humiliation, he endured and bided his time, until at his moment of greatest desperation he awakened the remnant soul inside the furnace: Fairy Ling Yue, who had fallen from the Immortal Realm of the Nine Heavens.
Ling Yue was a genius who cultivated both alchemy and martial arts, and possessed the heaven-defying True Manual of Alchemy and Martial Arts. She sought to break the rigid hierarchy of the Immortal Realm, but was hunted by its powerful figures, led by her fiancé, the Lord of the Golden Palace. Forced to burn her immortal body and open a small world, she managed to preserve only a wisp of her soul within the furnace before falling into the mortal realm. She gave Shen Yan the Myriad-Era Heaven-Burning Art and supreme alchemy legacy. Using the furnace's secret time art, she also helped him cultivate within it, at a rate that ranged from “one day outside equals one year inside” to “one day outside equals one hundred years inside.”
From then on, Shen Yan began his heaven-defying rise. He won the Qingxuan Sect's alchemy competition, settled the score with the petty villains who had bullied him, killed the treacherous steward Wang Kui, and broke through to Foundation Establishment in seclusion, gradually shedding his good-for-nothing reputation. With his unmatched mastery of both alchemy and martial arts, he ranged across the cultivation world and rose step by step, advancing from the mortal realm into the Immortal Realm of the Nine Heavens.
Through every hardship, he and Ling Yue stayed by each other's side, and their feelings gradually grew until they became each other's one and only Dao companion. To protect his beloved and avenge their blood feud, Shen Yan swept aside every powerful enemy and stormed straight into the Golden Palace Immortal Court, where he killed the hypocritical and vicious Lord of the Golden Palace. He purged the Nine Heavens of its corrupt forces, shattered the barriers of class, and rose to the Nine Heavens in a mortal body, becoming the sole ruler of the ages and forging an unparalleled legend of alchemy and martial arts, with his beloved at his side.
I go to work every day and spend my time listening to books. I have read and read quite a lot. I can honestly say that this novel is really interesting. The plot is not tedious, and the characters and scenes are very graphic. All in all, it is a very good book and worth reading.
It's really good-looking and has a fairy-like feel. The farther back you go, the better it looks.
