"Nezha: Lotus Tribulation" is a tragic epic with Chinese mythology as the background and "Wukong Biography"-style speculation as the core. The story begins with Nezha removing his bones to return to his father and cutting off his flesh to return to his mother. It tells the story of how he gradually lost his memory and became a heavenly war machine after being reshaped into a "lotus incarnation" by Taiyi Zhenren using lotus roots. In order to find his true self, he dived into the East China Sea and retrieved the half-broken heart from the belly of the old dragon. While feeling the pain, love and hate again, he also had to make a choice between the war of gods, the grudges between father and son, and the order of heaven.
