Introduction to the work
1947, Southern Hebei Plain. Li Laoshuan, an illiterate farmer, took in Lao Zhou, an unknown underground party liaison officer, on a rainy night. Before Lao Zhou left, he left something behind and asked him to keep it for him. Soon after, Lao Zhou was arrested and sacrificed, and the thing was buried under the jujube tree at Li Laoshuan's house for three full years.
Late one night, the sound of broken branches was heard outside the courtyard gate. Someone was digging under the date tree. Li Laoshuan pulled out a Blue Sky and White Sun badge from the wooden box, with the number 073 engraved on the back - that was the identity certificate of the Kuomintang's latent agent.
