In America, My Uncle Is Donut

Li Ang (Leon) thought he was coming to America to live the good life with his relatives. But the moment he landed in Los Angeles, his paternal uncle, who weighed 280 pounds and went by “Donut,” took him straight to the slums.

His uncle, Tang Tian, calls himself “California’s ultimate fixer,” but in reality he’s a world-class deadbeat who spends his days among the Chinese community and Mexican immigrants.

He’s buried in debt, yet firmly believes he’s the next Wolf of Wall Street.

Looking at the expired canned food piled around the house and the gangsters picking the lock outside, Li Ang couldn’t help cursing, “Fuck, is this what the American Dream is?”

From underground casinos in Flushing to dollar stores in Texas;

From bit parts on Hollywood sets to a penny-stock trading room on Wall Street.

This is the absurd story of an ordinary man and a madman as they make their way across the wondrous land of America, hustling and swindling… no, working hard, until they turn the “American Dream” into an “American Donut.”

“Hey, Li Ang, don’t look so glum! Trust your uncle. When the opportunity comes, even pigs can fly! We’re the two most handsome pigs around!”

“Go to hell. You’re a pig. I’m not.”
