One Little Flirt and He Goes Soft

[Gentle, well-behaved girl / Lazy, carefree young man]

Lin Ni liked Chen Jinzhe.

He was carefree, dazzling, and far away.

Somehow, he had quietly taken root in her heart.

Like a vine that had wound around her heart for ages, she thought it would wither in autumn and winter, but instead it grew wildly around a dead tree. When spring breezes came, it flourished all the more.

The moment Lin Ni realized she had fallen for Chen Jinzhe, she also knew with perfect clarity that their futures lay on opposite sides of a great divide.

But she still couldn't stop herself from engraving him into her bones.

She never imagined that one day, the vine would bloom.

In the lights of the bar, someone mentioned the girl who had only left them with a glimpse of her back. “That girl turned around just now. She's exactly my type.”

Someone asked whether she was his type.

Chen Jinzhe didn't even lift his eyelids. He replied lazily, “No.”

At first, Chen Jinzhe just thought the girl cried a lot, like a leaky faucet.

Later, he thought she was pretty heartless.

He'd helped her several times, and she still said they barely knew each other.

She always tried to avoid him, too.

Then he thought, never mind.

Why was she so thin? Her wrist was impossibly slender.

He could hold both her wrists in one hand.

When winter break came, they had to part.

Lin Ni was about to leave when the young man backed her into a corner, pressing his forehead against hers, cold against cold. “Why are you so thin?”

Lin Ni held her breath. “I'm n-not...”

The next second, Chen Jinzhe wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close, smiling tenderly. “I don't mean anything by it.”

“...”

“Chen Jinzhe.” Lin Ni tried to push him away, but couldn't budge him. Exasperated, she cursed, “You're crazy.”

Chen Jinzhe smiled. “Yeah. I need treatment.”

Lin Ni laughed despite herself. “Are you a flirt or something?”

Chen Jinzhe replied, “I'm your boyfriend.”
