The Game of Great Liang

Soldier Chen Zhao opened his eyes to find himself a condemned prisoner in Pingliang Commandery of the Great Liang dynasty.

His crime: colluding with bandits. His sentence: execution after autumn.

The commandery governor who framed him, Wang Lang, is the governor of Yongzhou’s nephew. He has ruled the region for over a decade, wielding unchecked power. In the prison, former Censor-in-Chief Han Pingzhang has been held in secret for six months, unknown to everyone.

No golden finger, no System, no wise old mentor. Just a pair of shackles, a ledger, and the mind he brought from the special forces: calm to the point of being cold-blooded.

Wang Lang thinks he’s a lamb waiting to be slaughtered.

On the first day, Chen Zhao walks out of the death cell.

On the second, rumors sweep the city that Wang Lang is about to fall.

On the third, Wang Lang kneels and begs him to take over the commandery governor’s office.

From death-row prisoner to deputy governor of Pingliang, from demoted petty official to the one moving the pieces on the board. He never wanted merely to survive. He wants to turn the Great Liang court upside down with a mere flick of his hand.

Decisive and ruthless, with no angst or sanctimonious heroics.

Intrigue that keeps its wits, with no characters suddenly getting stupid and no dragging things out.

This is what a true dimensionality-breaking advantage looks like.
