Xiao Wuyu, the General Who Guards the Nation, was betrayed by a trusted subordinate and died a tragic death on the battlefield.

He became a wisp of paper, left unburied and gnawed at by cold winds in the wilderness.

In his final moments, he encountered the Ghost King, Ye Jue.

“From this day on, your soul belongs to me, and so does your body.”

The Ghost King’s words coiled around him like an icy chain. “You want to protect your homeland? Then use your bones and blood to serve as my cultivation vessel.”

He possessed a rare Yin constitution, one unseen in ten thousand years. Gritting his teeth, Xiao Wuyu signed a contract selling himself to this evil spirit.

From then on, by day, he was an iron-blooded God of War, clad in armor and wielding weapons, turning the tide of battle in a shower of blood.

But at night, he became the Ghost King’s plaything in bed, his soul devoured and his essence stolen night after night by that sinister man.

At first, Ye Jue regarded him as nothing more than a useful vessel, coldly draining his power. Watching him survive one brush with death after another amid treacherous court politics, a callous ruler, and traitors at every turn, he found it amusing.

He would look down at Xiao Wuyu with a sneer and say, “See? The human world has no place for you. I’m the only one who will keep you.”

But later, he heard the burning heartbeat beneath that hard, cold exterior and saw how Xiao Wuyu refused to bend, even in the depths of despair.

Predation turned into possessive obsession, and something more crept into the Ghost King’s cold devouring.
