[A sweet-on-the-outside, ruthless-on-the-inside heroine, not mindless wish fulfillment, with plenty of female characters]
When others are reborn: they take revenge, crush their enemies, and dominate everyone around them.
When Yun Xianyi is reborn: she makes a career of playing a beautiful fool, while quietly outworking every rival.
Faced with jealous rivals, allies who are only allies in name, and a patron who could bring her down at any moment, Yun Xianyi pulls out her little notebook and diligently follows The Professional Canary's Code of Conduct: be delicate, be clingy, and make it seem as though beauty is all you have.
In private? She is busy getting in touch with her mentor's former associates, reviewing the alliance's political landscape, and deftly folding Lu Yunjin's gray-market businesses into a compliant blueprint. Until one day, Lu Yunjin discovers that the permit he had been unable to obtain was secured by his “useless little pet” in exchange for afternoon tea, and that the rival causing him endless headaches was “accidentally” put behind bars by her.
He corners his little canary, who is trying to destroy the evidence, and laughs in exasperation. “Isn't it exhausting, keeping up the act?”
Yun Xianyi shrinks her neck and looks perfectly innocent. “Not at all! I'm very professional!”
See how happy she's made her patron. She is a shoo-in for Canary of the Year.
