The War of Resistance Begins in 1943

Cheng Ming, a history teacher-training student, wakes up in 1943 during a battle the Japanese army called the "Jiangbei Annihilation Campaign," becoming a soldier in Wang Jinzai's 128th Division. The battlefield is hell, and his comrades are blown to pieces. Amid strafing planes and artillery tearing up the ground, he grips his Hanyang rifle, its stock cracked. This is the story of an ordinary person thrown into history's meat grinder: how he swallows the smoke and seizes that faint glimmer of life amid despair.
