In 2158, the Great Ice Age froze two-thirds of the earth to death.
Lu Chen, a scavenger code-named "Jackdaw", survives at an abandoned weather station in the Arctic. During an excavation in the ice, he dug out a frozen corpse and a blue test tube. The next day, heavily armed mercenaries stormed the weather station and chased him deep into the ice field.
The substance in the test tube is rewriting his genes - giving him a "dead" constitution that is not recognized by any detector. He is the only surviving defective product of the "Divine Blood" project.
And the forces that are chasing him want him.
