In her second year of high school, Su Nian moves from a small southern town to the city with her mother.
She expects to quietly sit in a corner of the classroom as usual, drawing and reading, and get through high school without attracting attention. But on her first day, the two little dimples that appear when she smiles make the whole class remember this sweet, gentle girl.
That same day, she brushes past someone in the hallway.
Gu Shen, a senior in his final year, the top student in the grade and the campus heartthrob who has held the top spot for years. Everyone says he's cold and taciturn, and keeps strangers at a distance. Su Nian thinks his gaze is far too chilly too, like snow that hasn't fully melted in winter.
She tells herself not to get close to someone like that.
But fate has other plans.
The only empty seat in the library is opposite him. When she forgets her umbrella on a rainy day, he shoves his into her hands. After she does poorly on a monthly exam, his book of mistakes just happens to appear on her desk. Every encounter seems like a coincidence, yet each one makes her heart beat faster.
What Su Nian doesn't know is that Gu Shen, whom everyone considers utterly out of reach, has already fallen for her.
From the day she bumped into him, from the moment her dimples appeared, he couldn't take his eyes off her. He remembers her casual promise to "buy you a coffee," scowls when she talks a little too long with another boy, and secretly switches seats to sit in front of her, all just to catch a few more glimpses of her.
