“So,” Lin Zhixia began, her voice soft, “you’re Lu Jingshen, the man who needs to get married to save his company?”
Lu Jingshen looked at her, his gaze sharpening. “And you’re Lin Zhixia, the woman whose parents used childhood photos to pressure her into a blind date?”
“To be honest,” Lu Jingshen said, leaning against the railing, his silhouette looking a little weary in the night, “I’ve been with someone for ten years. But we can’t go public, let alone get married.”
Lin Zhixia wasn’t surprised. “A man?”
Lu Jingshen turned to look at her. “You’re not surprised?”
“What’s there to be surprised about?” She shrugged. “A City isn’t that big. One of my best friends is part of your circle. I’d heard some rumors about the Lu family’s heir, but I didn’t know they were true.”
“So now you know,” he said, turning his glass in his hand. “I need a marriage to satisfy my father and save my company. One year, two at most. Once the company is stable and can stand on its own, apart from the Lu family, we can end it.”
“What a coincidence,” Lin Zhixia said with a smile. “I need a marriage to get my family off my back, too. My mom’s started to suspect I’m gay. Last week, she even recommended a ‘really great lesbian dating group’ to me.”
This time, Lu Jingshen really did burst out laughing.
“Then,” Lin Zhixia said, turning to face him, her gaze clear, “since we both need a marriage in name only, why don’t we team up?”
“Team up?”
