[Gender-bender romance | Desert stronghold | Wild, bold heroine x chaste, pampered elite man | Mutual healing | Pursuit and flight, then falling hard]
In the uninhabited desert, Su De is the wildest hunter on the entire wasteland.
She runs a guesthouse in the Gobi, having seen every kind of wind and sand. Forceful and domineering, carefree and bold, she is like a desert tarantula, used to lying in wait with patience until her prey comes right to her.
By chance, she takes in a refined prize who should have belonged in the bustling city: Wei Jinxi, a buttoned-up corporate elite in a suit.
He is Xinda Bank's youngest vice president, impeccably dressed in a crisp suit, with severe germophobia and an austere, disciplined nature. Cool and distinguished, he rejects flirtation and romance completely and has zero tolerance for "settling."
From the first meeting, she has him in her sights.
She takes charge and corners him at every turn. "Give yourself to me."
By Moon Lake,
she boldly declares, "Wei Jinxi, you're mine now."
How could an elegant, proud white butterfly submit to being controlled? Panicked, Wei Jinxi kicks her away, breaks free of the desert's grip, and flees back to the bustling city, hoping to return to his old, unchanging life.
But the web has already been spun, and the prey has long since fallen.
The knife she gave him is hidden in his drawer, and her defiant figure fills his dreams at night. Beneath his suit, desire he can't restrain is taking root. He gets jealous and obsessive, falling for her over and over again. He even clumsily searches late at night for a kind of romance he's never experienced before.
She lures him in at every turn and takes the lead; he retreats at every step, becoming completely addicted.
The web called love tightens around him, and he willingly submits to her for all eternity.
"She's the tarantula, he's the prey. But who can say whether the prey didn't enter the web willingly from the start?"
"Changshengtian, thank you for giving me my prey," Su De says to the desert.
The writing is better than most.
