In the occupied area of Suzhou in 1942, Gong Yuping took the risk and sneaked into the gendarmerie to work as a cleaner in order to find her son Shen Mingyuan who was kidnapped by the Japanese army. In the process of secretly transmitting information, she was shocked to find that her son had become a translator for the Japanese army.
