The protagonist of the story, Lin Changan, a veteran movie fan who is familiar with Lin Zhengying's zombie movies, accidentally traveled to Lin Zhengying's movie universe in the early years of the Republic of China and became the third new disciple of Maoshan Taoist Master Jiu Shu.
The time travel point is three days before the story of "Mr. Zombie" begins, which coincides with the time when Master Ren invites Uncle Jiu to lift the coffin and bury his deceased father. Chang'an, relying on his foresight of the movie's plot, knew from the beginning that Mrs. Ren's coffin was fraudulent, that Wen Cai would be injured by a zombie, and that Qiu Sheng would be haunted by a female ghost. However, knowing the plot does not mean that you can easily change the plot - the intervention of the butterfly effect, the improvement of zombie strength, and the greater conspiracy behind it will all make Chang'an face a more dangerous situation than in the original movie.
