The value of "Twilight in Northern Guizhou" does not lie in providing a "standard answer", but in truly presenting the struggle and choice of a contemporary grassroots youth between ideal and reality, work and family, individual and system. It does not glorify grassroots work, nor does it demonize the system; it does not make the protagonist a hero, nor does it reduce him to a tragic figure. It simply tells the story of an ordinary person honestly, and it is this honesty that makes the story universally relevant. Lin Mo's story is a concrete and subtle sample - it tells us that the confusion, struggle, persistence and hope of those young people working silently at the grassroots level deserve to be seen and told.
