Patriarch Bodhi

Clouded spiritual roots, a chaotic mix of seven elements, and a cultivation speed less than thirty percent that of an ordinary person: this was the fate the immortal sects passed down for Yun Song, an orphan from Xiniu Hezhou. “You don't even qualify to be a servant,” were the last words he heard when he was fourteen.

The scorched pines on Withered Pine Ridge could still sprout after being burned to charcoal. He refused to believe in fate.

After risking his life to save a dying old man, he unexpectedly inherited the secret realm of the ancient rogue cultivator Kuso Songzi and obtained the Spring from the Deadwood cultivation art, an extraordinary technique created specifically for those with clouded spiritual roots. Taking hardship as food and adversity as fuel, he survived death again and again, opening spiritual meridians within his flesh and blood.

From bitter cultivation in a stone hut on Withered Pine Ridge to traveling the Three Realms and comprehending the Dao; from tempering himself through love tribulations and inner demons to founding a sect and taking on disciples, he spent three thousand years proving that spiritual roots are bestowed by heaven, but one's Dao heart is one's own. Even a mortal body can attain the Great Dao, and a cultivator with clouded spiritual roots can become a supreme being.

When he severed his ties to the mortal world, retired to the Inch-Heart Mountain of the Spiritual Terrace, and took the name Patriarch Bodhi, only then did the Three Realms learn that the most mysterious hidden powerhouse was none other than the useless boy everyone had once despised.
