His surname is Ji, and his given name is Mingyu. His bloodline is the key, his body is the vessel, and he is the final seal holding this world together.
Ji Mingyu, a graduate student in the sciences, wrote his thesis on the legend of Guixu. His advisor dismissed it as superstitious nonsense, and he was unemployed as soon as he graduated.
Just as he was preparing to accept his fate and return to his hometown to take the civil service exam, a lawyer’s letter from western Hunan changed everything. A distant great-uncle he had never met had died, leaving him an old mansion from the Republic of China era: Moonwatch Villa.
He expected nothing more than a few pieces of old furniture, but in the back garden he unearthed a glowing bronze ring and a diary written in special ink.
One phrase appeared again and again in the diary: “The Eye of Guixu,” a fissure said to lie between reality and another world. On the final page, his great-uncle had written:
“The Ji bloodline is the final seal.”
That night, a group of intruders broke into the mansion, their target the diary. Forced to flee, Ji Mingyu discovered inexplicable changes in himself. He could sense an aura of ill omen and vaguely “see” energy flowing through the air.
More terrifying still, a secret organization calling itself the Dawn Society had already set its sights on him. They told him: You are not the seal. You are the key. You are the vessel. You are the only way to open the Eye of Guixu.
And the countdown had only three months left.
