After Breaking Off the Engagement, I Won Over the Anorexic Princess with My Cooking

The day Gao Qicheng was jilted, he threw himself into the lake.

When he opened his eyes again, the soul of a Michelin sous-chef had entered the body of this good-for-nothing illegitimate son. The whole city of Yong’an laughed at him for knowing nothing but cooking. His fiancée tore up their marriage contract and threw herself into the arms of the heir to the Marquis’s estate.

One bowl of egg fried rice made the old servant cry.

When Yixuan opened its doors, the aroma of braised pork wafted across half the city. Three thousand strands of tofu in a dish of Wensi tofu made the local gang boss yield on the spot. The Seventh Princess, who had suffered from anorexia for three years, finished an entire bowl. The emperor made a secret visit and bestowed a golden plaque. The princess declared, “Your daughter will marry no one but him.”

From Sweetwater Lane in Yong’an to the imperial kitchens in the capital, from jilted good-for-nothing to the emperor’s son-in-law. Gao Qicheng wiped his knife. “Back then, you looked down on me for knowing nothing but cooking. Now, you’re not worthy of these hands.”
