The Time I Accidentally Summoned the Jade Emperor

The Age of Declining Dharma has ended, and spiritual energy has returned.

As the entire cultivation world celebrates the coming golden age, Li Bai, a young Taoist from the Sanqing Temple, finds himself saddled with the Three Realms’ greatest debt.

It all started when he performed the Summoning Immortals ritual for the first time and summoned the Jade Emperor.

A thoughtless “It’s fine” earned him an IOU for one hundred thousand years’ worth of merit, bankrupting the thousand-year-old Sanqing Temple overnight.

With their spiritual leyline severed and their fortune drained away, master and disciple are forced to descend the mountain and enter this newly awakened age of spiritual energy.

Other people seek the immortal path in pursuit of eternal life and ascension to immortality.

Li Bai seeks the immortal path only to earn more merit and pay back the Jade Emperor as soon as possible.

He helps a mountain god find its missing steed, assists the City God in catching rogue ghosts, clears blockages from the Dragon King’s river, and even cleans up after the Matchmaker’s misdirected red strings.

Before long, the entire cultivation world knows that a young Taoist named Li Bai has little skill but plenty of nerve, daring even to go into debt to the Jade Emperor.

But no one knows that as Li Bai repays his debt of merit, a vast secret is slowly coming to light: a secret about the end of the Age of Declining Dharma, the Heavenly Court’s silence, and the future of the Three Realms.
